Amazing Peru – 9 days

Day 1 Los Angeles – Lima (Peru)
Depart USA for Lima. Arrive and be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure.
Day 2 Lima – Cusco
Transfer to airport for your early morning flight to Cuzco. Cusco is the ancient capital of the Inca kingdom, once the center of this mysterious civilization. After lunch, enjoy a city tour: La Catedral Basilica, Coricancha Temple of the Sun, the central square, the military fortress of the Incan Empire, the Citadel. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 Cusco – Machu Picchu – Cusco
An early start this morning, as we take the Peru Rail train to the most famous of the Incan ruins: the aerial city of MACHU PICCHU. We visit the ancient city built on cliffs, divided into several areas: cemeteries, prisons, living area and temple areas. After a buffet lunch, we board the afternoon train back to Cuzco.

Day 4 – Cusco – Juliaca – Puno
Today, enjoy a city tour of Cuzco. After lunch transfer to the airport, for your flight to Juliaca. Upon arrival, we transfer to Puno by car (1.5 hours drive time) and take a tour of the historic center, “La Casa Conde de Lemos” Square, the main church, and look for bargains on colorful alpaca knitwear. After dinner, check into your Puno hotel.

Day 5 – Puno – Lake Titicaca – Puno
After breakfast, visit South America’s largest and also the world’s highest lake, Titicaca (13,000 feet). After arriving by boat to the floating islands, enjoy the beautiful lake scenery. Then we come to the great Sillustani circular tower tombs, called “Chullpas”, built by the Colla people of the Titicaca region. These towers pre-date the Incas and are more complex structures than any that the Incas built. In the evening return to Puno for overnight.

Day 6 – Puno – Lima
This morning, transfer to airport for your flight back to Lima. Afternoon city tour of Lima: Lima Old town and Plaza de las Armas. Radiating out from the square are large blocks of stone which pave a section of the road leading to every corner of the city. Continue to Plaza San Martin. Dinner, then return to hotel.

Day 7 – Lima – Paracas – Ica – Nazca
Today we travel to famous nature reserve PARACAS Peninsula, three hours away. We then take a boat for the Bird Island tour (about 2 hours), and experience he spectacular natural environment and unique isle where tens of thousands of seabirds, sea lions, penguins and local wildlife thrive.
After lunch we embark on our Ica city tour and visit the famous wine factory to learn how wine was introduced to the region. Wine tasting is included on the tour. Continue to visit the Museum of Ica in southern Peru, which is one of the best museums in the country, where visitors can see interesting ancient ruins and cultural evolution. Our last stop is Huacachina, visitors can tour here. We continue on to Nazca for overnight.

Day 8 – Nazca – Lima
Breakfast at the hotel. Then on to Nazca, where you can take a small plane for a bird’s eye view by air*, and marvel at the mystery of these ancient land paintings (flying time of about 30 minutes). It is believed that hundreds of years ago, alien beings visited an Indian village and then drew these fantastic figures, depicting the local life. The drawings include butterflies, dragonflies, birds and animals of various shapes. Return to Ica, then to Lima for dinner. Evening transfer to the airport, for your late night flight back to the US.

Day 9 – Lima – Los Angeles Early morning arrival at Los Angeles International Airport, connecting to your flight home.
